Born on June 6, 1912, in the Dominican Republic, Montez was known as the “Queen of Technicolor,” a beloved figure in the film industry. She became a famous actress during the
1940s era, and she gained recognition as one of the first Latinas to conquer Hollywood.
Montez appeared in 26 films, 21 of which were made in North America. Her work opened the doors for other Latinas who later traveled to Hollywood searching for stardom on the big screen.
